Allan Demond

B.A., M.Div., MTh., Ph.D.

Allan Demond (Rev. Dr.) is the Senior Pastor of NewHope Baptist Church and the Executive Director of NewHope Community Care. NewHope is a vibrant community of people who are passionate about: social transformation, biblical spirituality and being a contemporary expression of the gospel of Jesus. He has been serving NewHope since 1995 when he moved to Melbourne from Eastern Canada where he had been serving as a pastor (Highfield Baptist Church) and an educator (Crandall University).

Allan has studied in Canada, USA, Europe and Australia and holds degrees in philosophy, theology and education. In addition to his leadership at NewHope, Allan is an adjunct faculty member of Whitley College, an occasional conference speaker and a freelance strategy and governance consultant. He sits on the council of the Baptist Union of Victoria, the board of Baptist World Aid Australia and the board of Willow Creek Australia.

As a pastor and an educator for more than 30 years Allan is passionate about individual transformation, institutional renewal and the re-visioning of the church. He enjoys serving as a communicator, mentor and strategist and he celebrates the privilege of walking with many creative and godly colleagues who have shared his journey of trial and error, pain and progress, at the coalface of local ministry.

Extra-curricular interests include watching old movies, collecting rare Canadian and Australian stamps, getting ‘lost’ in great music, reading, travelling, walking and eating-out.

Allan is married to Janet who is an artist and freelance writer and together they enjoy the wonderful friendship of their three adult daughters Alicia, Becky and Heidi.
